Who We Are

Our goal is to transition refugees into contributing members of their host communities by providing short and long-term solutions, such as housing, labor opportunities, and medical relief. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization registered with the IRS. 100% of the donations go directly towards charitable supplies.We are a humanitarian organization without any political or religious associations and our mission consists of both humanitarian and medical relief.

Dr. Ruba Sarsour

President

Dr Ruba Sarsour, graduated high school from the Friends School in Ramallah, Palestine. She completed her undergraduate education at East Carolina University and Medical school at Virginia Tech (VCOM).

Dr Sarsour is board certified in Internal Medicine , Nephrology and Hypertension. She is currently the medical director of Nephrology and the co-Chief of medicine at Regional West Medical Center. She is also the medical director at Davita dialysis unit in scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Dr Sarsour is the founder of Hanan Refugees Relief Group. She is also actively involved with Physicians for Palestine, a non profit organization aimed at building and enhancing medical projects in Palestine. Throughout her life, Dr Sarsour volunteered with different humanitarian and medical organizations serving marginalized communities both in the USA and abroad.

Dr Sarsour’s mission is to establish programs that improve the health care system and the livelihood in marginalized communities, underserved communities and areas of struggle.

Faten Taneeb, EDD

Vice President

Dr. Faten Taneeb, born in Washington DC, previously volunteered with Hanan Refugees supporting our international assistance efforts in Jordan and Palestine. Over her career that spans nearly 40 years, Faten has gained extensive experience in a variety of sectors including health, pharmaceuticals, and education. However, her passion lies in international development and humanitarian assistance. Faten’s international development career is focused in the Middle East and she has supported projects in Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Jordan. She speaks fluently in Arabic. Faten has a B.S. in Biology from the American University in Washington DC, a master’s in Education (with a concentration in health promotion) from Virginia Tech, an MBA from Averett University in Virginia, and a Doctor of Education (EDD) from Capella University. Faten currently works for Global Communities in Palestine as the MEL and Communications Director.

SAUSAN NAJI

Sausan Naji was born and raised in California and lives with her family in Wisconsin.
 
Sausan holds an Associate of Arts in Banking and Financial Services from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Susan also holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources and a Master of Arts in Human Resources and Leadership Management from University of Ottawa.
Sausan is a Human Resources Consultant with 10 years of experience. Her passion is providing HR solutions for her clients by helping them build their HR infrastructure through technology, compliance and people. Sausan also enjoys consulting with early stage ventures and non-profit organizations. Her areas of expertise include compliance and best practices, HR infrastructure, talent development, management coaching, process improvement, HRIS implementation, mergers and acquisitions, group reductions in force. and policy and procedure development.
Sausan is currently on the board of Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition, MMWC and Milwaukee Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope, MICAH. She also serves on the Hanan Refugee Relief Group Milwaukee Chapter committee.
Sausan is married with four children. She enjoys mentoring up-and-coming HR professionals where she shares her knowledge and passion for HR. Sausan enjoys spending time with her family, reading, volunteering, mentoring youth and event decor/planning. She is the Owner of Divine Afrah, an event decor and planning business, which she manages with her family.

SABRIN WSHAH

Treasurer

Sabrin Wshah is a Real Estate Escrow Officer and Escrow Processor who currently reside in Raleigh, NC.
She earned two Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Criminal Justice from East Carolina University. Sabrin has a passion for community service and has taken the lead in multiple community-based projects. Her work includes: helping refugee families settle in Greenville, North Carolina; organizing events that advocated for refugee rights; reestablishing the Arab Student Union on ECU’s campus to spread cultural awareness and create an inclusive environment; and fundraising for humanitarian relief projects. Additionally, Sabrin served in leadership positions in several organizations including the Arab Student Union, the Muslim Student Association, and No Lost Generation.
 

 

Dr. JAMIL YASIN

At-Large Member

Jamil is a Hospitalist physician and the Director of the Hospitalist department at Sara Bush Hospital in Champaign, Illinois.  He loves his job and helping patients get better. One of his most satisfactory feelings is seeing patients getting sent home to their loved ones. He loves traveling, spending time with his three kids and being a humanitarian. He loves helping those that are less fortunate.

Dr. SARA WASIM

Dr. Sara Wasim is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician currently practicing in Alexandria, VA.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA and her medical degree from Ross Universit in 2014. She completed her residency at East Carolina University (ECU)/Vidant Medical Center in Internal Medicine. She is a proud wife and mother of 2 adorable children.

Dr. Wasim has always been passionate about charity and providing medical care to those less fortunate. She has been volunteering at local charity events since she was in middle school. During medical school, she was part of multiple groups that provided basic medical care and donations at free clinics in Dominica.

As part of Hanan RRG, she plans to provide basic and medical aid to as many people as possible from all over the world.

MAYSOUN AHMAD

Maysoun Ahmad has been an active member in the greater Muslim Milwaukee community since 1990.

She has participated on various boards and has great partnership with several non-profit organizations locally and nationally.

Maysoun is also a daycare owner & has an educational background in Early Childhood. She is also a devoted and loving wife & mother of six!
